Best of Show Winner – Double Gold Medal Winner-2007 Syrah

“Best of Show Title” Awarded to Meadowlark Vineyards 2006 Syrah at 2010 U.S. Professional Wine Buyers Competition™

US Professional Wine Buyers Competition 2010Santa Rosa, CA — 16 judges awarded “Best of Show” to Meadowlark Vineyards (www.meadowlarkvineyards.com) 2006 Estate Grown Syrah on January 18 at the Second U.S. Professional Wine Buyers Competition. The suggested retail price is $27.99.

The winery, established in 2002, is owned by Dr. Ramon and Sandra Guerrero. The winning wine was made by Vidal Perez & Chris Brown. Meadowlark is registered as an organic grower with the state of California for their Syrah grapes.

“Meadowlark Vineyards is honored to receive the judges’ BEST OF SHOW award. Our family has worked very hard to ensure that we produce quality, earth-friendly wines. We would like to thank everyone who has helped in the production of our wines and we look forward to sharing our wine with our valued customers,” said Dr. Guerrero when he heard of his win.

The boutique winery sourced the winning fruit from its 17 acre vineyard located in the Santa Ynez Valley, approximately 45 minutes from the City of Santa Barbara. Meadowlark’s first vines were planted in 2002. Their first harvest occurred in 2005 and after a year in French and American oak barrels their first vintage was bottled.

“The purpose of the U.S. Professional Wine Buyers Competition is to provide leading U.S. professional wine buyers with a venue in which they can determine which wines should be on the retail shelf, restaurant wine lists, and in the hands of private collectors,” said Lea Pierce, Founder and Managing Director of Wine Competition Management, LLC.

“This year’s 16 judges requested a “Best in Show” judging at the end of the day. Meadowlark’s 2006 Estate Syrah was the clear winner out of 7 double gold wines selected during the competition. We are very happy for their success. Professional wine buyers will want to share this gem with their customers,” Pierce added.

We feel very honored of being able to produce high quality wine and at the same time being good stewards of our environment. As a registered organic grower we strive to create an agricultutal product that is as clean and as pure as possible. Less than 2% of wine grapes in the United States are grown organically.
Meadowlark Vineyards is proud to be one of the few vineyards that has committed to organic farming. A great deal of attention is given to our vineyards and the end result is the production of high quality grapes.
The wine making process is likewise a critical component of our underlying organic philosophy.  Since we do not use chemicals that can harm the environment, we feel confident that we are producing wines that minimize the introduction of harmful chemicals to our bodies.
To all our loyal customers and friends we’d like to extend our gratitude for your support.
We are what we eat, so…
Let’s drink wines that are produced from organically grown grapes!
